Galaxy S21: An iPhone User's Review!

Hey guys this is Paul and I've been a daily iPhone user for most of the past 4 years I like the the simplicity of the operating system the cameras are great it has a nice design and it's just what I'm comfortable using but the Samsung Galaxy S. 21 just came out and this phone beats the iPhone up and down the spec sheet it has a triple camera set up a high refresh rate display based storage of 128 gigabytes and it starts at the same price of $799 I've been using it for over the past 2 weeks so this is my iPhone users' review of the Galaxy S. 21. Starting off with the design coming from the iPhone 12 many as 21 feels really big to me but in reality it's just a little bit bigger than the regular-sized iPhone twelfth if Sam song ever ended up making an S. 21 many I would definitely be down for that after using a small phone I think that's my personal preference but I'm certainly not going to take anything away from the S. 21 for its size because it's just about right in line with most other modern smartphones Simpson actually went with the plastic back which is fine I don't think it feels quite as nice in the hand as the iPhone but that's a personal preference it's got a matte finish and I'm sure it helped cut down on the cost of the phone in speaking of cost I already mentioned this the S. 21 starts at 700 $99 last year the S. 20 started at 999 so you can see it Sam song is really aggressively targeting that iPhone price point by bringing the price of the S. 21 down to 799 but the S. 21 starts at 100 28 gigabytes while the iPhone starts at 64 gigs in to upgrade the S. 21 to 200 56 gigabytes of storage will only cost you $50 more so that's great to see in my opinion more storage is always appreciated going back to the design of the phone the camera bump on the back actually looks pretty good in In my opinion I like the metal accent around the lenses and it makes the S. 21 stand out from a lot of other phones it's pretty much instantly recognizable it's got these glossy aluminum sides that make it feel slightly more premium in the hand but I'm not a fan of the button placement on this phone the power button and volume rocker are on the same side they're barely raised and only separated by about a centimeter so I accidentally missed press these all the the time I would much prefer these buttons to be on opposite sides like they are on the iPhone is like a lot of other smartphones. S. 21 uses U. S. B. C. I'm someone who would prefer every phone in the device I used to have U. S. B. C. so many of my devices already use it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see U. S. B. C. on the iPhone but I have a feeling with all these rumors we've been seeing lately that it will probably go portlets before that ever happens there's 1 speaker on the bottom of the S. 21 and another hidden underneath the the glass they sound pretty good I would say it's slightly better than the speakers on my 12 many the S. 21 features this tiny hole punch for the front-facing camera at the top of the phone in this camera cut out is my favorite solution for the front-facing camera it's much less distracting and invasive band the the notch on the iPhone both phones have face unlock is an option and both are pretty much instantaneous but the S. 21 also has a fingerprint sensor underneath the display so you kind of get the best of both worlds especially when I'm trying to unlock while wearing a mask using the fingerprint scanner probably saves about a few seconds or so also quick side note here when you unlock with the iPhone you still have to swipe up on the lock screen whereas with the S. 21, you have the option to disable the lock screen in the settings which again only saves a few seconds but that can really add up when you're using this phone daily in the display on the S. 21 is fantastic like most other modern smartphones it fills the entire front of the phone it's 6.2 inches in the resolution is only 1080 P. which doesn't sound amazing but sharpness wise it is 100 percent fine I don't think I would even notice the difference between this and a 1440 P. display is of course a lead so you get those deep blacks and very rich vibrant colors in it is an HDR display so any sort of HDR content will look great on this phone but the biggest difference I noticed between the S. 21 display and the iPhone display is the refresh rate the S. 21 has an adept. To refresh rate they can go up to 120 hertz which is twice that of the iPhone 12 in most other smartphones which are just 60 hertz 120 hertz makes things like scrolling on a website or scrolling through menus just feel so smooth it's really something you have to experience first hand to get the full effect and hopefully this is the next major upgrade we're going to see to the iPhone's display, it in the next year or 2 battery life by the way is great that's kind of the 1 major downside of the 12 many you know with the the smaller phone you get a smaller battery and I was struggling to get 4 to 4.5 hours of screen on time where is with the S. 21 I can get 5 sometimes even 6:00 hours relatively easily I've never drained the battery in date and on occasion I've even been able to get 2 full days of light use out of the phone which is more than I can ask for in terms of battery the S. 21 has the new snapdragon 888 chip and 8 gigabytes of ram now technically if you put the 888 tip head to head with the A. 14 bionic in the iPhone 12 the iPhone does appear to have the edge at least in terms of benchmarks but I've never had any issues with the speed of the S. 21 whatsoever that's kind of the case with most flagship phones these days but yeah no issues multitasking gaming performance is great it's just a very fast and snappy phone all around I don't want to spend too much time on cameras because I just did a full comparison of the S. 21 to the iPhone 12 which you can see up here but the S. 211 that comparison the S. 21 consistently takes really beautiful images the telephoto lens is great for situations where you might need a bit of extra soon the night mode is the best I've used on any phone in the same goes for portrait photos it does a great job of nailing that artificial blurt something the iPhone sometimes struggles with 4 K. video looks good as well it has the op. Time of shooting 4 K. HDR and you can even shoot 8 K. on this phone at 24 frames per second which is super sharp but really only usable with a tripod or gamble because the stabilization isn't quite there so in terms of $800 smartphones, the S. 21 probably has the best camera set up out there so as an iPhone user, it's been really interesting to see what a top tier android flagship has to offer there are several features from the S. 21 that I would love to see brought over to the iPhone like the 20 hertz displayed the combination of face unlock and fingerprint unlock in the triple camera setup but if you're really deciding between an iPhone 12 and the galaxy S. 21 it will basically come down to an iOS versus android operating system debate which is a whole separate topic for another video but that's really the reason I think I'll be sticking with my iPhone I'm just so involved in the Apple ecosystem with my apple watch and my MacBook I just cannot break out of the apple ecosystem at this moment but I think that technically speaking the S. 21 has more to offer I think this is the most well rounded $800 phone available make sure to subject the channel if you want more content like this like the BLOG if you liked it and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
